Our nursery is situated 2 miles from Llandeilo in the Towe Valley an area with a great tradition of orcharding and growing apple trees west of the Black Mountains. We aim to grow Welsh native varieties of apple trees and other fruit trees that do well in the unique climate of Wales.

 

The business was started by Paul Davis, Dolau-Hirion Nursery, Capel Isaac, who did not want the knowledge and business to be lost on his retirement so he generously showed me how to graft and grow trees to a very high standard. We are grateful to benefit from his background knowledge and 30 years of horticultural experience.

We grow our trees peat free and without using any harmful chemicals and specialise in grown the old Welsh varieties of Apple trees which we grow in 3 or 4 litre pots and these are sold either as one or two year trees. Since they are container grown, they can be planted at any time of the year given adequate watering during the very dry spells we are having now in Wales.

 

We also sell a limited number of bare root trees that are available to pre-order from this site and will appear for sale around the beginning of August when they can be pre-ordered for collection from our nursery when they are lifted and ready in late December through to end of March.

 

We are a production nursery growing trees for our customers, local authorities, and charities and we specialise in giving advice and supplying trees to community orchards.

 

Unfortunately, as most of our time is spent in the nursery growing trees, we cannot offer delivery beyond 10 miles from our nursery. Likewise, we cannot accommodate public visits to the nursery as we don’t have suitable premises and insurance. Customers collect their trees from our base near Llandeilo by arrangement.
